Summary

The Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) are seeking a highly skilled Endocrinologist to join our team. This dual appointment offers an opportunity to provide clinical care to veterans at Baltimore VAMC and contribute to academic medicine at UMSOM. The candidate should demonstrate excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Duties

Located in downtown Baltimore, the Baltimore VA Medical Center (VAMC) is a premier facility within the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) and an academic affiliate of UMSOM. It features 324 beds, is adjacent to UMMC, and is known for advanced care, research, and teaching.

The Baltimore VAMC hosts programs in geriatrics and is ranked highly in VA-funded research. Baltimore offers vibrant urban life with attractions like the Inner Harbor, cultural landmarks, and proximity to major cities.

At The VA Maryland Health Care System (7/8th FTE)

• Provide comprehensive care for endocrine disorders, including diabetes, thyroid, and metabolic diseases.
• Manage inpatient and outpatient endocrinology consults.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes.
• Participate in quality improvement and research activities.
• Mentor medical students, residents, and fellows.

At the University of Maryland School of Medicine (1/8th FTE)

• Contribute to teaching and mentorship of medical students and trainees.
• Attend departmental meetings and contribute to program goals.

Requirements

• Unrestricted medical license
• Completion of residency in an approved program
