The Alexandria VA Health Care System is seeking two Physicians (Emergency Room) in Medical Service who will be responsible for providing emergent medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans on a 24/7 basis.The Alexandria VA Health Care System, Alexandria, Louisiana is a Joint Commission accredited, complexity level 3 facility serving Veterans within 23 of Louisiana's 64 parishes. The VAMC is located in Pineville, Louisiana with community based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) in Jennings, Lafayette, Fort Polk, and Natchitoches, Louisiana. As an Emergency Room physician, you will provide emergent medical treatment and personal care services to ill and injured veterans. Duties include documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes; ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, determining need for hospitalization at this facility or transferring the patient to another facility. Must complete clinical reminders and meet performance measures, as applicable. Our facility is seeking individuals who possess good organizational skills which enable completion of work, a demonstrated ability to assume leadership in a patient centered program, and the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship. Citizenship of the United States. Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
