Job description

Emergency Medicine Physician

UPMC in Central PA is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team at our community hospitals throughout the region. This position offers an opportunity to practice in a supportive, patient-focused environment while delivering high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population.

As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will evaluate and treat patients with a wide range of acute and life-threatening conditions. We foster a collaborative and collegial atmosphere where physicians can focus on clinical excellence and compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide comprehensive emergency care to patients of all ages.
  2. Perform evaluations, diagnostics, treatment, and stabilization for various medical conditions.
  3. Collaborate with hospital specialists and support staff for seamless patient care.
  4. Maintain accurate medical documentation in line with hospital policies.
  5. Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety.
  6. Provide leadership and guidance to mid-level providers and nursing staff as needed.
  7. Participate in rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications:
  1. MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine.
  3. Current, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in Pennsylvania.
  4. Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  6. Ability to handle high patient volumes confidently and compassionately.
