Position Title

Physician Documentation Assistant/Medical Scribe

Shift: 9a-9p - Rotating Weekends

Position Summary / Career Interest:

The Physician Documentation Assistant (PDA) provides clerical support to staff physicians, aiming to improve patient throughput. The primary role involves working alongside physicians to transcribe documentation and enter orders based on instructions, along with other clerical duties. This role is under the direct supervision of the staff physician and Nurse Manager/Manager.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
  1. Models professional practice through collaboration with staff, leadership, patients, families, and physicians.
  2. Interacts positively and professionally, demonstrating conflict resolution skills.
  3. Accurately and promptly documents physician assessments without subjectivity.
  4. Completes order entry accurately and timely as directed.
  5. Documents procedures performed by the physician.
  6. Possesses knowledge of common medical terms and medical language.
  7. Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with co-workers, patients, families, and guests.
  8. Reviews assigned patients for updated test results and reports them promptly to the physician.
  9. Performs professional, clinical, and technical competencies relevant to the department.
  10. Other duties as assigned, with responsibilities varying by department or unit.
Required Education and Experience
  • High School Graduate
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associate's Degree in Medical Assistance
Required Licensure and Certification
  • Basic Life Support Heartsaver (BLS HS) (Non-Clinical) - American Heart Association (AHA)
