Summary

The New Orleans VA Medical Center is seeking Dermatologists to work various shifts, including inpatient coverage. These positions also involve teaching and mentoring trainees from the VA Research Center - Tulane School of Medicine and LSU School of Medicine.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completion of residency training approved by the VA
• For academic roles, board certification may be required
• Residency training must be approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent
• Residents in approved programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) under supervision
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Duties

• Provide dermatology care to veterans, including diagnosis and management of skin conditions, skin cancers, and complex dermatological cases
• Perform direct patient care, tele-dermatology consultations, and supervise residents
• Collaborate with other subspecialty physicians and supervise trainees in dermatology
• Conduct inpatient dermatology consultations
• Teach and mentor trainees, including research and Quality Improvement projects
• Engage in clinical and translational research in partnership with VA Research Center, Tulane, and LSU
