Job summary

Wellpath is seeking a physician to assess and treat patients in correctional clinical settings, performing exams, coordinating referrals, and educating patients and families. Travel may be required depending on facility needs.

The role emphasizes compassionate care, collaboration with psychiatric and interdisciplinary teams, and adherence to safety protocols in a mission-driven environment. US residency is required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited university.
• Two (2) years post-residency clinical experience in an outpatient/inpatient setting.
• Psychiatric experience preferred.

How you make a difference

The Physician is responsible for assessing and treating patients’ physical health including conducting exams and coordinating outside referrals. This position performs minor procedures and collaborates with psychiatric and interdisciplinary staff to ensure integrated care. Physicians also educate patients, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and tailor treatment plans to the patient's age and development. Travel may be required depending on facility needs, and work is in correctional clinical settings.

Qualifications & Requirements

EDUCATION

• Medical doctorate (MD) or doctor of osteopathy (DO) from an accredited university

Experience

• Two (2) years post-residency clinical experience in an outpatient/inpatient setting
• Psychiatric experience preferred

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Licensed in the state of employment
• Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and applicable certifications
• Board certified or eligible in internal or family medicine
