Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago seeks a skilled medical coder to audit physician documentation and assign CPT/ICD-9 codes. You will collaborate with physicians to correct deficiencies, ensure timely submission of charges, and maintain coding accuracy across cases.

The role requires CPC/CCS-P/CPMA certification, minimum three years of coding experience, and proficiency with EPIC and MS Office applications. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Certification in CPC, CCS-P or CPMA is required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of three years coding experience in healthcare.
• Thorough knowledge of CPT/ICD-9 coding and E/M rules.
• Ability to use EPIC and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Review and audit physicians’ documentation for CPT code accuracy.
• Determine visit, procedure and diagnosis codes from documentation.
• Initiate corrections and resolve coding discrepancies.
• Educate physicians on documentation and coding improvements.
• Present audit findings to division leadership with recommendations.
