Job summary

The Indian Health Service (IHS) seeks physicians to deliver patient-centered medical care within a mission to raise the health of American Indian and Alaska Native people. You will collaborate with diverse healthcare teams, provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment, and participate in teaching and quality improvement efforts across generations.

Qualifications

• Degree required: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from US/Canada.
• Active, full medical license in the United States or eligible for licensure.
• Board certification preferred but not required; promotion to higher grades may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert patient-centered medical care including evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute, chronic, and preventive health needs within specialty.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated care; review evidence to reach conclusions.
• Perform specialty-specific diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures as trained and credentialed.
• Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and professional development of medical staff, students, and trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical innovation initiatives.
