Job summary

Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center is seeking a Physician to diagnose and treat chronic pain disorders in an outpatient setting, overseeing medical assistants and ensuring clinical competency. The role may include CLIA‑waived lab duties in certain sites to support clinic operations.

Candidates should be Board Certified or residency‑trained with Hawaiʻi licensure and DEA/NED eligibility. BLS/BCLS certification is required to align with clinic standards and patient safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School.
• Board Certification or residency completion; preferred specialties include Pain Medicine, PM&R, NM, Family/Internal Medicine.
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in Hawaiʻi.
• Must obtain Federal DEA and Hawaiʻi NED Controlled Substance Licensure.
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required per AHA guidelines.

• Diagnose and treat chronic pain disorders in outpatient clinic; provide comprehensive medical care.
• Supervise medical assistants and ensure clinical skill competency.

Job description

SITE LOCATION: PAIN MANAGEMENT (MAIN CAMPUS WAIANAE)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Physician is responsible for diagnosing and treating a variety of disorders, diseases and injuries related to Chronic Pain Management in a community health center model setting; provides comprehensive, outpatient medical services for individuals and families on a continuing basis; and is responsible for medical assistant (MA) clinical supervision and ongoing verification of the MA clinical skills and competency. Additionally, at certain sites, the physician may serve as lab director for CLIA waived tests performed in the clinic. Commitment to serving an underserved, culturally diverse patient population in a Federally Qualified Health Center setting, including patients with complex chronic pain, behavioral health needs, and social determinants impacting care.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Graduate of an accredited Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School
• Board Certified in a specific medical specialty or have completed residency and be Board Eligible. Preferred Specialties: Pain Medicine, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine
• Must be licensed to practice medicine in the State of Hawaiʻi
• Must obtain Federal DEA and Hawaii NED Controlled Substance Licensure
• Current BLS/BCLS certification required. Needs to be approved following AHA guidelines
