A leading healthcare provider in Phoenix is seeking a Chief of Surgery to lead their surgical department. The Chief will work closely with a team of specialists and engage in research and mentoring activities.
City of Hope Phoenix has launched a national search for a Chief of Surgery who will provide leadership to our department of surgery in clinical, research, and education areas. The next Chief of Surgery will be a highly regarded physician with a collaborative, team-based leadership style, and the ability to leverage and grow our existing, nationally recognized surgical program. The Chief must also be operationally savvy, with the business acumen and cultural sensitivity to lead within a complex, matrixed organization.
The department of surgery at City of Hope Phoenix is dedicated to the surgical care of cancer patients. It includes 10 providers across various surgical services, including breast, gastrointestinal, gynecology, thoracic, urology, and general surgery. The Chief reports directly to the Chief Clinical Officer, Alan Bryce, M.D.
The ideal candidate will be a respected surgeon with a distinguished national reputation, regardless of surgical specialization. The Chief should demonstrate a commitment to advancing patient care, quality, financial and regulatory efficiencies, and provide leadership and vision for the department’s clinical services in an academic medical center environment. Mentoring junior faculty is essential. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
