About the Position: This position is located in the Cardiology department of the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, TX.

Duties
- Teach and mentor on the most recent cardiovascular recommendations.
- Evaluate patients utilizing laboratory and clinical findings to determine appropriate treatment or referral to a specialty clinic.
- Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic diseases and complications such as valvular heart disease, ischemic heart disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension, and hyperlipoproteinemia.
- Collaborate with specialists in other subspecialties or cases with complex and multifaceted problems.
- Supervise medical students, interns, and residents providing care in the Cardiology clinic.
- Review physical requirements and conduct physical examinations of various categories of military and civilian personnel.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination based on a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Must sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide a recognized exemption.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position requiring pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Consent to participate in random drug urinalysis testing is required.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is mandatory for all positions with direct patient contact. Additional immunizations may be required based on the position.
- Must obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certifications do not replace BLS.
- Applicants must fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain/maintain appropriate clinical privileges.

Basic Requirement for Physician (Cardiology-Non-Invasive):
- Degree: MD, DO, or equivalent from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school. Evidence of equivalency for foreign degrees includes certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or passing the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
- Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license from a U.S. state, district, or territory.
- Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, such as an internship or first-year residency in an accredited program.
Additional Qualification:
- Successful completion of accredited residency training in Internal Medicine and at least 4 years of equivalent experience and training. Experience cannot substitute for required residency training.
