Summary

Madison VA Medical Center oversees community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) in Janesville, Baraboo, Beaver Dam (WI), Rockford, and Freeport (IL), along with a primary care annex at Madison West Clinic. It is part of Veterans Integrated Services Network 12 (VISN12), headquartered at Hines, IL, serving Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. A recruitment/relocation incentive is NOT authorized for this position.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA-employed physicians who initially qualified under previous standards are deemed to meet current requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if qualified citizens cannot be recruited)
• Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
• Proficiency in English
• Board eligibility in Cardiology
• Physical ability to perform sedentary work with some standing and bending

Duties

• Serve as a Board Eligible/Certified Cardiologist at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison, WI
• Participate in an active academic cardiology section specializing in electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure/transplant, and imaging
• Perform, supervise, and interpret cardiac imaging studies, including nuclear cardiology and echocardiography
• Manage inpatient and outpatient cardiology patients, provide outreach at Rockford CBOC, and remote work at East Clinic and Tomah VAMC
• Supervise and mentor fellows, residents, and students, contributing to VA's teaching mission
• Hold a faculty appointment with the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
