Job summary

The State of Georgia, Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, is seeking a Board-Certified Physician for the Gracewood campus to provide comprehensive medical care in a residential setting.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating residents, coordinating with interdisciplinary teams, maintaining EMR records, and participating in on-call rotations. MD or DO with GA license and 2+ years post-residency required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• GA license to practice medicine in Georgia (unrestricted).
• Board certification in primary care or relevant specialty.
• Minimum 2 years of post-residency clinical experience, preferably in residential/long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations including history, exams, and testing.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions; develop treatment plans.
• Order and interpret labs and imaging; manage medications.
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists and support staff for holistic care.
• Maintain EMR records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Participate in on-call rotations for emergency coverage.

This role involves diagnosing and treating a variety of medical conditions, managing chronic diseases, and promoting overall health and well-being within a residential setting.ECRH has two campuses: Gracewood, established in 1921; and Augusta, established in 1969. On July 1, 2003, these two previously separate facilities officially consolidated and became ECRH. The facilities serve DBHDD’s 33-countyEast Central Region (Region 2). The 420-acre Gracewood campus provides services for people living with developmental disabilities in both an ICF/IID and a skilled nursing facility setting. The 310-acre Augusta campus provides mental health and forensic services. Each campus includes living areas, activity areas, administrative buildings, and support buildings.ECRH currently employs approximately 900 staff and is owned and governed by DBHDD.
