Job description

Summary

The North Florida/South Georgia Veterans Health System (NF/SGVHS) is seeking a Physician to serve as Associate Chief Of Staff (ACOS) for Specialty Care at the Jacksonville Outpatient Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. The ACOS/Specialty Care should have experience in outpatient care provision and outpatient clinic administration. The role reports regularly to the Chief of Staff at NF/SGVHS.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be considered tentatively. Existing VA physicians meeting previous standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
  • Current, full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
  • Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to board eligibility
  • Residents in ACGME/AOA-accredited programs or equivalent, eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs)
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Physical requirements including lifting, reaching, walking, vision, and hearing standards

Preferred Experience: Demonstrated interest in Specialty Care and outpatient clinic administration, and a valid medical license.

Duties
  • This is an open continuous announcement; eligible applicants will be referred until vacancies are filled.
  • The ACOS/Specialty Care oversees clinical and administrative activities, performance improvement, and educational programs for outpatient and community-based clinics.
  • Responsibilities include directing quality care, developing clinical programs, ensuring safety, making patient care decisions, participating in patient care, and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Plays a key role in internal review, resource management, and strategic planning, and participates in various committees.
  • Responsible for educational programs, performance evaluations, and meeting accreditation standards.
