Qualifications

• PA degree (Bachelor’s or Master’s) and PA program completion.
• Active NY Physician Assistant license and registration.
• Certification with NCCPA and DEA registration.
• BLS and ACLS certifications.
• NPI number and infection control knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient health by interview and by obtaining and/or updating medical history.
• Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
• Performs physical examinations and provides treatment and counsel; recognizes emergencies and initiates care.
• Determines abnormal conditions by diagnostics; follows up on tests and interprets results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures (injections, suturing, wound care) and provides post-operative care.
• Counsels patients on prescribed regimens and health maintenance.
• Maintains patient records and discharge summaries; supports continuity of care.
• Ensures infection-control policies and safety procedures are followed.
• Develops pre/post-operative evaluation plans and education.
• Assists physicians during surgery or complex procedures; may prescribe medications.
