Job summary

Boulder Centre for Orthopedics & Spine in Boulder, CO seeks a Physician Assistant for our Sports Medicine team. You will work with orthopedic physicians to evaluate injuries, develop treatment plans, and manage pre- and post-operative care.

Strong collaboration, clinical judgment, and patient communication are essential. The role emphasizes education, continuity of care, and a team-based approach within a busy orthopedic practice.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Current Colorado Physician Assistant license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients with sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal complaints.
  • Obtain medical histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and manage treatment plans in collaboration with orthopedic physicians.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing within scope.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Provide patient education on diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care.
  • Coordinate referrals and additional services as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and other patient-care activities.

We are looking for a Physician Assistant to join our Sports Medicine team and partner closely with our orthopedic physicians to provide exceptional, patient-centered care.

Compensation

Schedule/Type: Full-Time | Onsite

Annualized Salary: Starting at $110,000–$145,000 for a 1.0 FTE (40 hours/week)

Compensation within the posted range is based on relevant experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. Compensation is prorated based on FTE and scheduled hours for positions working less than 40 hours per week.

What You'll Do

As a Physician Assistant on our Sports Medicine team, you will:

  • Evaluate patients presenting with sports-related injuries, orthopedic conditions, and musculoskeletal complaints.
  • Obtain medical histories and perform comprehensive physical examinations.
  • Develop and manage patient treatment plans in collaboration with orthopedic physicians.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic testing within your scope of practice.
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans as appropriate.
  • Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment options, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Perform appropriate procedures and interventions within your scope of practice and training.
  • Coordinate referrals and additional services when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation.
  • Consult with physicians regarding complex cases or changes in patient condition.
  • Provide continuity of care through follow-up visits and ongoing patient communication.
  • Participate in clinical rounds and other patient-care activities as assigned.

Experience & Credentials

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Current Colorado Physician Assistant license.
  • Current CPR certification.

Preferred:

  • At least one year of experience practicing as a Physician Assistant.
  • Experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, or another musculoskeletal specialty.
  • Experience evaluating and treating sports-related injuries and orthopedic conditions.
