Job summary

Universal Community Health Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide high-quality, patient-centered medical care under supervision. You will assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions and support preventive services and education.

The PA collaborates with physicians and the care team, delivers care consistent with protocols, maintains accurate documentation in the EMR, and may assist with perioperative care as needed.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in the state of practice.
  • Certification by NCCPA.
  • BLS certification; ACLS preferred for some specialties.
  • Completion of state board–approved programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine medical care to an outpatient population under supervision of a physician.
  • Obtain health information and perform physical examinations.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests (labs, X-rays, EKGs).
  • Educate patients and families on treatments and care plans.
  • Coordinate preoperative and postoperative care and document progress.

Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) is responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered medical care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions. The PA delivers care in collaboration with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team, supports preventive services and patient education, and ensures timely, accurate documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards.

General Accountabilities
  • Provide routine medical care to an outpatient population under the supervision of a physician.
  • Obtain health information from patients and perform physical examinations to assess medical conditions.
  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, including lab tests, X-rays, and electrocardiograms, and interpret results to diagnose health issues.
  • Educate patients and families regarding medical treatments, medications, and compliance with care plans.
  • Assist with preoperative and postoperative care and coordinate overall patient care activities.
  • Document patient progress, treatments, and medications accurately in medical records.
  • Practice safe and healthy patient care methods.
  • Perform other duties as directed to support clinical operations.

Physical Requirement
  • Physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 25 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved. The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time is required.
