Job description

Summary

The Physician Assistant (PA) will provide outpatient primary care treatment to Veterans with acute and chronic illnesses, with an emphasis on preventive medicine. Responsibilities include evaluating and assessing patients, followed by evidence-based treatment of healthcare needs within a Veteran-centric, team-based care model. The Primary Care PA will deliver clinical coverage through face-to-face or virtual medical care.

Duties

• Perform initial medical histories and physical examinations on new and established patients at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, indicating clinical problems and patient assessment.
• Provide and coordinate comprehensive care for assigned patients across various care settings.
• Conduct special examinations such as compensation and pension examinations and employee health examinations after appropriate training.
• Perform periodic physical examinations and screenings to determine the need for further healthcare.
• Start IV solutions and administer IV medications.
• Counsel and educate patients and families regarding preventive care, medical problems, and prescribed treatments and medications.
• Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.
