Job description

Physician Assistant – Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)

Power Health Colorado is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to join our growing multidisciplinary medical team. This position is ideal for a PA who enjoys a fast-paced, collaborative clinical environment and wants exposure to physical medicine and rehabilitation, musculoskeletal medicine, electrodiagnostic testing, interventional procedures, and comprehensive injury care.

The Physician Assistant will work closely with our PM&R physicians and broader clinical team in the evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal, neurologic, spine, and injury-related conditions. Our model brings multiple disciplines together under one organization, allowing providers to coordinate care across medical, rehabilitation, and ancillary services.

This is a multi-location position. Regular travel between Power Health Colorado locations is required, including Aurora, Brighton, Wheat Ridge, and North Colorado.

Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive new-patient evaluations and established-patient follow-up visits under the supervision and collaboration of our physicians.
  • Obtain and document detailed histories and physical examinations, including musculoskeletal and neurologic assessments.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians and the multidisciplinary care team.
  • Evaluate patients presenting with neck pain, back pain, extremity complaints, radiculopathy, neuropathy, musculoskeletal injuries, and other conditions commonly treated within a PM&R practice.
  • Order and review appropriate diagnostic studies, including X-rays, MRI, CT, electrodiagnostic studies, and other testing as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in the evaluation and management of patients undergoing EMG and nerve conduction studies and assist with electrodiagnostic workflows as appropriate based on training, competency, and scope of practice.
  • Assist physicians with and/or perform approved office-based procedures based on training, credentialing, and scope of practice.
  • Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure evaluations and follow-up for patients receiving interventional treatment.
  • Coordinate care with PM&R physicians, interventional providers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists, behavioral health providers, case management, and other members of the care team.
  • Monitor patient progress and modify treatment plans when clinically appropriate.
  • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, rehabilitation expectations, procedures, medications, and ongoing care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation within the electronic medical record.
  • Ensure documentation supports medical necessity, continuity of care, authorization requirements, and appropriate billing.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, case managers, outside providers, and other parties involved in patient care.
  • Participate in clinical meetings, provider education, quality initiatives, and development of clinical workflows and protocols.
  • Maintain productivity, documentation, patient‑experience, and quality standards established for the position.
  • Travel between assigned Power Health Colorado locations based on patient volume and operational needs.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current or eligible Colorado Physician Assistant licensure.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • DEA registration or ability to obtain, if required for assigned responsibilities.
  • BLS certification.
  • Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining appropriate physician collaboration and escalation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to regularly travel between clinic locations.
Preferred Experience
  • Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R)
  • Orthopedics
  • Spine care
  • Interventional pain management
  • Neurology
  • Sports medicine
  • Musculoskeletal medicine
  • Occupational or injury medicine
  • EMG/NCS or electrodiagnostic medicine
  • Office-based musculoskeletal procedures
  • Personal injury and/or workers' compensation

Multidisciplinary Practice Environment

Power Health Colorado operates differently from a traditional single-specialty practice. Our providers work within an integrated model that may include PM&R, interventional medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropractic care, massage therapy, behavioral health, case management, diagnostic testing, and other complementary services.

The PA in this position must be comfortable communicating across disciplines and helping move patients through a coordinated treatment plan rather than working within an isolated provider model.

Travel Requirements

This is not a single-location position.

The PA will be expected to provide clinical coverage across multiple Power Health Colorado locations, including:

  • Aurora
  • Brighton
  • Wheat Ridge
  • North Colorado

The specific schedule may vary based on provider coverage, patient demand, and operational needs. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations are required.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a PA who is clinically strong, dependable, adaptable, and comfortable taking ownership of their patient schedule. The right candidate should enjoy working closely with physicians while also being capable of independently managing appropriate patient visits within their scope of practice.

This role is particularly well suited for someone interested in building deeper experience in PM&R, musculoskeletal medicine, spine care, procedures, and electrodiagnostic medicine while working within a growing multidisciplinary organization.
