Montefiore Hudson Valley Collaborative is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to deliver medical services under physician supervision across clinics and surgical settings in New York. The role includes patient histories, examinations, ordering tests, forming diagnoses, and assisting at surgery with a focus on comprehensive care.

Applicants must be NYS licensed, NCCPA certified, and hold BLS/ACLS/PALS; a PA program background is preferred.

Qualifications

• BS degree required.
• MS degree preferred.
• Physician’s Assistant program preferred.
• NYS licensed and registered Physician Assistant.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• OHS Fit Test.
• OHS Annual Assessment.

Responsabilités

• Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations.
• Order and/or perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Formulate diagnosis and develop treatment plans.
• Monitor effectiveness of therapies and assist at surgery.
• Provide counseling and education to meet patient needs.
• In emergencies, able to treat any medical condition at the hospital for affiliates.

Overview

The practice of a Surgical physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician.

Responsibilities

Medical services rendered by Surgical physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals. Surgical Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates. An emergency, for these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available. The activities listed below may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other institution settings.
