Level: Experienced, Job Location: SMN Peabody 2700 - Peabody, MA 01960, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: Masters, Salary Range: $118,300.00 - $177,400.00 Salary, Travel Percentage: Some travel between company locations, Job Shift: Day, Job Category: Health Care, Sports Medicine North, a multi-specialty orthopedic practice north of Boston, has an excellent opportunity for a full-time Physician Assistant to join its dynamic team. The Physician Assistant will provide clinic and OR support to the group’s orthopedic surgeons. This well-regarded practice of 24 sub-specialty trained physicians offers a highly collegial and supportive work environment.

Highlights:

• Performs complete physical exams, obtains complete medical history and records findings
• Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures. Interprets and integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan
• Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients
• Performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing
• Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits
• Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines
• Instructs patients/families regarding medications and treatments
• Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention, surgical procedures and expectations in perioperative period
• Actively supports patient safety program; adheres to applicable patient safety standards including NQF Safe Practices
• Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation as necessary
• Conducts post-operative evaluations
• Hospital rounding / call responsibilities
• Performs necessary administrative duties consistent with role including EMR and billing inputs
• Identifies emergency situations and uses sound judgement in instituting established procedures to respond to emergencies in a calm and efficient manner
