Job summary

Prosperous Health Lake Hughes is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join a multidisciplinary psychiatry team. You will deliver psychiatric assessments, medication management, and medical support for patients with mental health and substance use disorders.

You will collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, and other clinicians to ensure high-quality care. The role includes treatment planning, documentation, and discharge planning in a hybrid California setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program and CA license in good standing.
• Active NCCPA certification and DEA registration.
• Current BLS certification and credentialing readiness.
• Ability to pass background checks and drug-testing requirements.
• Familiarity with behavioral health and medication management.
• Two+ years in psychiatry or behavioral health preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments.
• Provide psychiatric medication management.
• Monitor treatment response and side effects.
• Support MAT and stabilization programs.
• Coordinate care with clinical and nursing teams.
• Participate in treatment planning and case reviews.
• Complete accurate clinical documentation.
• Follow HIPAA, accreditation and organizational requirements.
• Assist discharge planning and continuity of care.

Education

Current California Physician Assistant license in good standing

Our network includes a new 104-bed inpatient behavioral health and substance use disorder campus, multiple outpatient programs, statewide virtual care, and Prosperous Medical—our integrated psychiatric and medical services division.

Position Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Physician Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team at Prosperous Health Lake Hughes.

The PA-C will collaborate with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, and other providers to deliver psychiatric assessments, medication management, medical support, and ongoing care for patients with mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and co-occurring conditions.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric and medical assessments


• Evaluate symptoms, treatment response, and clinical stability


• Provide psychiatric medication management


• Monitor medication effectiveness and side effects


• Support medication-assisted treatment and stabilization programs


• Address routine medical concerns in a behavioral healthcare setting


• Participate in treatment planning and case reviews


• Coordinate care with clinical and nursing teams


• Support discharge planning and continuity of care


• Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation


• Follow HIPAA, DHCS, accreditation, and organizational requirements


• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives
  

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program


• Current California Physician Assistant license in good standing


• Current NCCPA certification


• Current DEA registration or ability to obtain


• Current BLS certification


• Ability to pass credentialing, background screening, and drug-testing requirements

Preferred Experience

Two or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:

• Psychiatry or behavioral health


• Addiction medicine or substance use disorder treatment


• Inpatient or residential treatment


• Community mental health


• Integrated medical and behavioral healthcare


• Psychiatric medication management


• Medication-assisted treatment


• Co-occurring disorders

Knowledge of ASAM Criteria, trauma-informed care, and multidisciplinary treatment is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $95,000–$180,000 annually, depending on experience
