Job summary

Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL is seeking an Occupational Health Physician to join our Occupational Health Services team. This role provides medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and guidance on employee health and workplace safety.

Responsibilities include pre-employment and return-to-work exams, managing work-related injuries, and supporting workers' compensation, OSHA and regulatory compliance. Board-certified in Occupational Medicine preferred.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree required and board certification in Occupational Medicine.
• Current MRO qualification for DOT drug testing programs.
• Experience in occupational health and workplace safety preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, ADA, FMLA and related regulations.
• Excellent communication with employees, leadership, and agencies.
• Experience managing occupational health cases and programs.

• Conduct pre-employment, periodic, and return-to-work medical examinations.
• Evaluate employee health concerns related to workplace exposures and conditions.
• Diagnose and treat work-related injuries and illnesses.
• Provide medical oversight of the Occupational Health drug screening program.
• Serve as the organization's Medical Review Officer (MRO) for applicable drug testing programs.
• Review and interpret drug testing results and conduct required MRO interviews and determinations.
• Manage Workers' Compensation cases and provide follow-up and return-to-work recommendations.
• Develop and support workplace health, wellness, prevention, and health surveillance programs.
• Evaluate workplace health risks and provide preventive recommendations.
• Advise leadership on occupational health policies and regulatory requirements.
• Support compliance with OSHA, ADA, FMLA and related requirements.
• Provide education on ergonomics, workplace safety, stress management, and injury prevention.
• Maintain accurate and timely medical and occupational health documentation.

We are seeking an Occupational Health Physician to join our Occupational Health Services team. This position provides medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and consultation related to employee health and workplace safety. The physician evaluates fitness for duty, manages work-related injuries and illnesses, supports Workers' Compensation case management, and provides guidance to leadership on occupational health, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.

What You'll Do

What We're Looking For

• Medical degree (MD or DO) required.

• Clinical experience focused on occupational health preferred.
• Knowledge of occupational health regulations, workplace safety standards, and preventive medicine principles.
• Experience managing occupational health cases.
• Experience developing or supporting workplace health programs.
• Strong communication and advisory skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate with employees, leadership, healthcare professionals, and regulatory agencies.
