Job description

Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (with RNFA) - Breast Surgery, Full-time, Days

Join Northwestern Memorial Hospital as a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (with RNFA) in the Breast Surgery department. This role involves 20% OR surgical assisting and 80% outpatient clinic work, providing comprehensive breast care primarily for women, with some care for men. Responsibilities include supporting surgeons in clinic and OR, managing independent clinics for benign breast disease, high-risk patients, and follow-up care for breast cancer patients. OR duties include pre-op, post-op, surgical first-assist, inpatient rounding, and mentoring trainees. Schedule: M-F, days, with occasional Saturday shifts. No nights, holidays, or on-call.

Essential functions include:

  • Providing expert patient care, diagnosis, and management of health problems.
  • Collaborating with physicians and health professionals.
  • Developing educational programs for patients, families, and staff.
  • Mentoring students and participating in quality improvement and research.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited nursing or PA program.
  • Acute care certification and RNFA required at time of application.
  • Current Illinois RN and APRN licenses or Physician Assistant license.
  • CPR certification (BLS) from American Heart Association.

Preferred: 2+ years of clinical experience in the specialty area.
