2. Shift: Mon-Sun, rotating shifts including day, evening, night, weekends, and holidays

Role Responsibilities

• Assist in cardiovascular surgeries, including first assisting and endoscopic vessel harvesting
• Perform preoperative assessments and postoperative care in outpatient, Step-Down, and ICU settings
• Manage patients with critical illnesses, interpret diagnostics, and perform invasive procedures
• Support patient care from admission to discharge under surgeon supervision

Scope of Practice

Develop evaluation plans, provide treatments within scope, and refer outside scope to physicians. Work as part of a multidisciplinary team under the guidance of cardiac surgeons and cardiologists.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in Connecticut
• Certification or eligible for certification as PA or APRN
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in cardiovascular surgery or critical care
• First assistant experience and skills in endoscopic vein harvesting preferred
