Overview
The Physician Assistant assists, monitors, and manages the day-to-day needs of patients as requested by, in conjunction with, and under the supervision of a physician. Performs duties according to medical standards.
Proficient in newborn resuscitation, intubation, stabilization, umbilical lines, PIV, arterial blood draw, ventilation management, needle aspiration, chest tubes, spinal tap, x-ray interpretation, and use of consultants.
Level III NICU at K. Hovnanian Children’s Hospital at Jersey Shore UMC
Responsibilities
- Obtain accurate patient history, identify problems, and present information to supervising physician.
- Chart via written, dictation, or electronic means: admission notes, physical exams, consultations, daily notes, urgent evaluations, minor procedures, post-op notes.
- Prescribe medications under supervision and in accordance with laws, including controlled substances if licensed.
- Assist in surgeries and procedures when appropriate.
- Write post-operative and post-procedure notes and orders.
- Manage post-procedure patient care as directed.
- Start IVs, insert Foley and NG tubes, irrigate Foley, order transfusions, venipuncture, debridements.
- Exhibit organizational, communication, leadership skills, and sound judgment.
- Assist with office functions, manage prescriptions, and resolve clinical issues.
- Participate in research and adapt care to patient needs.
- Serve as a resource and participate in educational programs.
- Greet patients courteously, ensure a welcoming environment.
- Adhere to organizational and safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required: Completion of an accredited PA program, NJ PA license, BLS certification.
Preferred: Additional certifications as applicable.Compensation
Starting at $117,395.20 annually. Benefits include health, dental, vision, paid leave, tuition reimbursement, retirement. Pay rates are estimates and may vary based on experience, market, and internal factors.
