Job Summary:
Nurse practitioners (NPs) provide health care services to patients with acute episodic conditions, chronic problems, or those seeking health evaluation, preventive care, education, and counseling. NPs work within KP in primary care or specialty departments, following Regional Standardized Procedures and Process Protocols for Ambulatory and Hospital-Based Practice. They perform complete physical examinations, order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, and assume ongoing responsibility for each patient from discovery of the disorder to recovery. They diagnose and treat both chronic and episodic disorders, including complications, and establish and document healthcare plans and diagnoses. Maintaining thorough records for review, they demonstrate the knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors necessary to provide superior, culturally sensitive service to members, providers, and vendors.
