Job summary

Florida Digestive Health Specialists, LLP is seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider (APRN/PA) - GI Hospitalist for inpatient gastroenterology services at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital in Brandon, FL. The role is hospital-based with a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule and hours from 8:00am to 7:00pm, focusing on inpatient evaluation and management rather than outpatient duties.

You will work with hospitalists, GI specialists, and nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Active license in good standing with Florida.
• GI experience required.
• Hospitalist experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Familiarity with EMR charting systems.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary hospital team.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology evaluation and management at the hospital.
• Perform initial and follow-up consultations for hospitalized patients with GI conditions.
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop care plans.
• Collaborate with GI physicians regarding patient evaluation, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor patients and communicate status changes to physicians.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, procedures, consultations, and follow-up care.
• Assist with GI procedures pre- and post-procedure management.
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses and plans.

The Advanced Practice Provider (APRN / PA) - Hospitalist will provide inpatient gastroenterology services and serve as a dedicated clinical resource for hospitalized patients requiring GI evaluation and management. The FDHS provider will work closely with hospital-based gastroenterologists, hospitalists, nursing staff, and other members of the hospital care team to provide timely, coordinated, and high-quality patient care. This is a hospital-based position and does not involve routine outpatient office responsibilities.

• Provide inpatient gastroenterology evaluation and management at Lakewood Ranch Medical Center.
• Perform initial and follow-up consultations for hospitalized patients with gastrointestinal conditions.
• Obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and develop appropriate plans of care.
• Collaborate closely with FDHS gastroenterologists regarding patient evaluation, treatment, and procedures.
• Monitor patients throughout their hospitalization and communicate changes in clinical status to the appropriate physician.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing, procedures, consultations, and follow-up care.
• Assist with the evaluation and management of patients before and after GI procedures.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and recommended procedures.
• Communicate effectively with hospitalists, surgeons, emergency department providers, nursing staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
• Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical record documentation.
• Participate in discharge planning and coordinate appropriate follow-up care.
• Provide responsive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Physical Demands
