Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Neurosurgery And Spine Associates Dallas is seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant for a no­cturnist overnight role in a high-acuity neurosurgical environment. You will be the primary overnight provider for neurosurgical patients and new consultations, operating with a high degree of autonomy and ongoing collaboration with the neurocritical care team.

Ideal candidates have PA certification, Texas license, and a track record in inpatient settings.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Current Texas Physician Assistant license.
  • National board certification as a Physician Assistant.
  • Eligible for hospital credentialing and clinical privileges.
  • Prescriptive authority as applicable.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Prior inpatient, ICU, emergency medicine, hospitalist, surgical, or neurosurgical experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Sole neurosurgery Physician Assistant in-house overnight.
  • Primary overnight provider for neurosurgical patients and new consultations.

  • Collaborative relationship with the nocturnal neurocritical care APP team.
  • On-call neurosurgeon available at all times for support and consultation.
  • Fast-paced, high-acuity hospital environment.

  • Limited routine first-assist responsibilities overnight, with opportunities to participate in surgery when appropriate.

  • Can work independently while recognizing when to escalate care.
  • Is collaborative, detail-oriented, and committed to high-quality patient care.
  • Communicates effectively with patients, families, physicians, and hospital staff.
  • Is eager to learn and develop expertise in neurosurgical care.
Experienced nocturnist Physician Assistants are strongly encouraged to apply, particularly those interested in learning a new specialty and building a career in neurosurgery. New graduate PAs are also encouraged to apply; our program has significant experience training and mentoring new graduates.

  • 12-hour overnight shifts (times vary from 7p to 7a, 5p to 5a, and 9p to 9a)

About Baylor Scott & White Neurosurgery And Spine Associates
Baylor Scott & White Neurosurgery and Spine Associates - Dallas was established in 2004 to provide advanced neurosurgical care to patients throughout the community. The practice provides comprehensive surgical treatment for disorders of the brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system, utilizing current surgical and radiosurgical techniques.

The practice is comprised of seven fellowship-trained neurosurgeons, one neurointerventional radiologist, and seven physician assistants who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care for a broad spectrum of neurological, spinal, cerebrovascular, and neurotrauma conditions. Our team delivers advanced treatment for both routine and highly complex pathologies, utilizing a multidisciplinary approach to achieve the best possible patient outcomes.

Working closely with the multidisciplinary teams at Baylor University Medical Center, our providers deliver coordinated, evidence-based care across the continuum of neurosurgical treatment, from emergency consultations and acute inpatient management to complex surgical intervention and long-term follow-up.

Qualifications
