Job summary

Gaston Radiology in Gastonia, NC, seeks a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join a high-acuity interventional and diagnostic radiology team. The role is part-time (24 hours per week, 3 days) with no nights, weekends, holidays, or on-call requirements.

You will perform a broad range of procedures, rotate across locations, and work with radiologists to deliver patient-focused care. Prior radiology experience and proficiency with imaging IT systems enhance candidacy.

Qualifications

• Current NCCPA Certification (PA-C), active NC Medical Board License, DEA License and BLS.
• Direct radiology experience strongly preferred; at least 2 years direct patient care.
• Experience with EPIC EMR, McKesson PACS or PowerScribe is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, including ultrasound, fluoroscopic, CT-guided procedures, biopsies and drain placements.
• Rotate across hospital locations and imaging centers as part of a rotating radiology team.
• Manage medically complex patients from consultation through post-procedure care.
• Interpret imaging and lab results within scope of practice and provide patient-centered care.
• Serve as a trusted clinical resource for patients, families, and staff.

Gaston Radiology is adding a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to a well-established team supporting a group of radiologists across hospital and outpatient imaging locations, including our partnership with CaroMont Regional Medical Center. This isn't a role where you'll sit on the sidelines. You'll independently perform a genuinely broad range of interventional and diagnostic radiology procedures in collaboration with the physician team.

What You'll Do

• Perform a wide range of diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures, including ultrasound, fluoroscopic, and CT-guided procedures, dialysis circuit thrombolysis drain placements, barium studies, joint injections, and superficial and deep biopsies.
• Rotate across hospital locations and diagnostic imaging centers, working with a rotating group of radiologists rather than being confined to one fixed team.
• Manage medically complex patients with real decision-making authority, from consultation through post-procedure care.
• Interpret imaging and laboratory studies within your scope of practice.
• Serve as a trusted clinical resource for patients, families, and staff.

• Current NCCPA Certification (PA-C), active unrestricted NC Medical Board License, active DEA License, and current BLS.
• Direct radiology experience strongly preferred; at minimum, two years of direct patient care, ideally in vascular surgery, surgery, or critical care.
• Experience with EPIC EMR, McKesson PACS, or PowerScribe is a plus.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Work is performed in hospital and outpatient imaging settings, including CaroMont Regional Medical Center and Gaston Radiology's diagnostic imaging centers, with regular movement between procedure rooms and patient care areas.
• Requires extended periods of standing and walking throughout the workday.
• Involves close, hands-on contact with patients before, during, and after procedures, including positioning and assisting patients on exam tables.
• Requires wearing lead aprons and other radiation safety equipment during fluoroscopic and CT-guided procedures.
• May require lifting or assisting with patient transfers up to 35 lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity and steady hand control for performing procedures and operating imaging equipment.
• Fast-paced clinical environment with rotating locations, schedules, and radiologist teams.
