Job Summary
We are seeking a full-time Inpatient General Orthopaedic Physician Assistant to join our team. This dynamic 4x10 schedule position is split between our Parnassus and Mount Zion campuses, with shifts scheduled Monday through Friday, four 10-hour days per week during the day shift.
At Parnassus, the focus will be on Orthopaedic Spine services. At Mount Zion, responsibilities will include Hand and Upper Extremity, Foot and Ankle, Sports Medicine, and potentially Trauma.
This position plays a vital role in supporting the orthopaedic team across the full continuum of inpatient care, contributing to high-quality, collaborative, and patient-centered outcomes.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $87.66 - $124.28 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant
- Specific training and experience in Orthopedics
- Excellent verbal and written communication, professional, computer and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse professional and patient population
- Ability to satisfactorily perform job duties as defined in the job duties/functions
- Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

License/Certification
- Active and current California Physician Assistant License (PA).
- California driver’s license (CDL) if required for position.
- Current national board certification (NCCPA) by first day of work and maintain.
- Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address.
- Complete an AAPA recognized graduate master’s degree program as a physician assistant.
- Submit enrollment with CMS Medicare and Medicaid through the credentialing process by first clinical day.
- Current AHA BLS.
- Current AHA ACLS.
UCSF Medical Center and Campus requires certain healthcare providers to be credentialed. In most cases this is done through its Office of Medical Affairs & Governance (OMAG) prior to the first working day. Credentialing and approval of the Standardized Procedures takes between 60-90 days but can vary.
