Description

The Physician Assistant is a key member of the Local MD Urgent Care team, responsible for delivering high-quality care in collaboration with physicians and the Medical Director. The Staff PA manages patient health problems, conducts physical exams, diagnoses, treats illnesses and injuries, and prescribes medications, exercising professional judgment and teamwork. The role involves leadership, partnership, and supervision, fostering relationships with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes. The PA also provides clinical expertise, education, consulting, and supports research activities.

Qualifications

Essential Job Functions & Competencies

Patient Screening & Analysis

  • Performs initial patient screening, history-taking, and physical exams to establish baseline health profiles. Analyzes test data to determine follow-up needs and treatment plans.

Diagnoses & Treatment

  • Diagnoses and treats acute and chronic health issues, prescribing medications based on efficacy, safety, and cost within legal scope.

Professional Care Service Recommendations

  • Recommends appropriate on-site and off-site healthcare services within the scope of training.

Patient Education

  • Educates patients and families on managing illnesses, customizing instructions to individual needs.

Patient Records

  • Prepares accurate, timely medical records using EMR technology per standards, documenting medication, diagnostics, and referrals.

Education & Training

  • Provides medical direction, education, and training to staff supporting provider services.

Organization Specific Expectations

  • Builds positive rapport with patients through empathetic interactions.
  • Works effectively as part of the provider team and collaborates with all staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, punctuality, and responsibility, embracing new ideas and respecting cultural differences.
  • Uses resources efficiently and maintains ongoing professional development, licensure, and certifications.
  • Adheres to Local MD standards, policies, and legal requirements, including HIPAA, documentation, and confidentiality.
  • Willing to travel within a 25-mile radius as needed.
