The PA will participate in inpatient and ambulatory care within the Department of Neurosurgery at South Shore Hospital, including:
The schedule is typically planned in advance, with variations to cover clinical needs, including a 4-day workweek with day, evening, and weekend shifts. The role requires maintaining ACLS certification and may involve training new PAs and participating in quality initiatives.
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed provider responsible for patient assessment, management, and treatment under supervision. Responsibilities include history-taking, physical exams, ordering and interpreting tests, developing care plans, prescribing medications, and documenting care comprehensively.
Work includes ambulatory, inpatient, ICU, OR, and procedural areas, with potential exposure to noise, bodily fluids, radiation, and sharps. Physical demands include standing, walking, lifting, and other activities detailed above.
