Job summary

Summit Orthopedics in Minnesota is seeking a Physician Assistant to float across clinics, urgent care, ASC's, and hospital settings. This full-time role offers exposure to sports medicine, hand, foot/ankle, and spine, with opportunities to join a MD team or orthopedic hospitalist path.

You will work Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with day and holiday rotations; some sites may have vaccination requirements per policy.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required for PA license.
• Licensed PA in Minnesota preferred.
• Basic Life Support certification required.

Responsibilities

• Functions as first or second assist in the operating room, including exposure and dissection.
• Triages patient calls and evaluates problems; responds to emergencies including CPR.
• Prepare patients for surgery and administer anesthesia-related prep.
• Conducts physical exams, takes medical history, and interprets imaging.
• Orders tests/scans and prescribes medications.

This Physician Assistant role will float to various Summit teams and locations to provide support throughout the organization in various settings (Clinic, Orthopedic Urgent Care, ASC's, Hospital). Could include both east and west metro locations. As a float you will have the opportunity to train in a variety of settings/sub-specialties (sports med/hand/foot ankle/spine etc..) which may provide opportunities to transition to a role on a specific MD Team, Orthopedic Urgent Care, or a Hospitalist role.

**This is a full-time role **will be expected to float to various locations based on needs of clinic teams and Orthopedic Urgent Care locations. Monday - Friday schedule, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM (subject to change). This role will provide coverage during the day while also being part of an evening/holiday rotation.

**COVID: Providers (PA/NP) -that will work in non-Summit locations may need to be fully vaccinated or have been granted an approved medical or religious exemption prior to start date. (These guidelines are determined by each non-Summit location and will be adhered to as appropriate.)**

Summit's hiring range for this position is $113,152 to $141,440 per year. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation. • Conducts physical exams, taking medical history, image interpretation and patient evaluation/care.
• Consults with physician as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PA's scope of work.
• Orders diagnostic tests and scans and prescribes medications.
• Administer injections, participate in suture and dressing removal and manage simple fracture management/cast application and removal.
• Counsels patient/family on preventive health care, including pre- and post- operative education.

Previous PA experience in orthopedic setting is preferred. Qualified candidates must be licensed as a PA in the state of Minnesota. (preferred)
