Job description

Urgent Care Physician Assistant

Location: Carmel, Putnam County, NY

Hours: 8 am - 8 pm

Population: Pediatrics to Adults

The Physician Assistant will perform a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. The role involves participating in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

Responsibilities:
  1. Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations.
  2. Initiate, document, and communicate the plan of care; follow up to ensure complete screening and preparation of patients.
  3. Perform daily patient rounds.
  4. Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests.
  5. Interpret laboratory and test results.
  6. Consult with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimal patient care.
  7. Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts upon discharge.
  8. Inform patients of necessary post-discharge care instructions.
  9. Perform related duties as required.
  10. All responsibilities are considered essential functions under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Duties not mentioned but considered related are non-essential.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program (ARC-PA) is required.
  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in New York State is required.
