Job summary

Frederick Health seeks a Physician Assistant to perform comprehensive patient exams and order/interpret tests in collaboration with supervising physicians. You will diagnose, treat, and manage care, including DOT physicals, with emphasis on urgent and emergent presentations.

The role requires Maryland licensure, PA certification, DEA and CDS licenses, BLS, and EMR experience. A hospital/outpatient setting background is preferred, with strong teamwork in a busy setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams and assessments of patients in urgent, emergent, and non-urgent presentations.
• Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including X-rays with supervising physician.
• Analyze test results to diagnose patients with supervising physician.
• Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medications, and vaccines in collaboration with supervising physician.
• Refer patients to PCP or specialist as appropriate.
• Perform procedures such as laceration repair, IV placement, foreign body removal, splinting and casting, and ear irrigation.
• Follow practice guidelines and standardized procedures with supervising physicians.
• Perform DOT physicals.
• Explain procedures and test results to patients; discuss treatment options.
• Document findings and treatment plans in EMR with follow-up notes.
• Collaborate with medical practices and ER physicians to ensure coordinated care.
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base for urgent care conditions.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

• Must have knowledge of computer skills. Experience with prior electronic medical records (EMR) is preferred.
• Maintains the necessary CME credits to maintain licensure.
• Must demonstrate ability to stay organized; is able to multi-task effectively.
• Must demonstrate time management, conflict resolution, and trouble shooting skills.
• Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.

Minimum Education, Training, And Experience Required

• Physician Assistant: Certification of completion from an approved Physician Assistant program.
• Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland.
• Current DEA license.
• Current Maryland Controlled Substance license.
• NRCME DOT examination certificate required.
• Current BLS Certification through American Heart Association or an approved training center.
• License to practice in any state that has never been suspended or revoked.
• Has not been excluded from participation from any Payers.
• 1+ years of experience in hospital or outpatient setting preferred.

Pay is based on experience, skills and education. The pay range may also vary based on specialty if applicable. Salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
