Job summary

UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX is seeking a Physician Assistant to promote, provide, and maintain patient care under physician supervision and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.

The role focuses on synthesizing data, developing care plans, ordering and interpreting tests, and supporting quality initiatives and clinical research. Requires ARC-PA accredited PA program and Texas PA-C license upon hire.

Qualifications

Master's degree required or higher in Physician Assistant field.
Licensure as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) in Texas upon hire.
NCCPA certification upon hire; current AHA Life Support certifications as per UT Southwestern policy.

Responsibilities

Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis.
Synthesizes data to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care.
Orders and interprets laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies.
Provides management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families.
Participates in quality initiatives and clinical research protocols.
Collaborates in research projects and applies evidence‑based practices to patient care.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Master's Degree Graduate of a Master's degree or higher Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician (ARC-PA) accredited Physician Assistant program

Licenses and Certifications

(NCCPA) NAT COMM ON CRFT PHY ASST Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Certification Upon Hire and (PA-C) Phy Assistant - Certified Licensed by the Texas Physician Assistant Board Upon Hire and Current applicable American Heart Association Life Support certification(s) based on UT Southwestern policy for Advanced Practice Providers Upon Hire

Job Duties

Conducts and documents comprehensive initial and ongoing physical examinations based on age and diagnosis, including psychological status.
Synthesizes data and utilizes evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the patient plan of care, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic studies/results.
Demonstrates proficiency in technical/procedural skills, as appropriate and based on specialty and training.
Provides relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients, families, and caregivers related to current care and preventive health measures.
Facilitates/participates in quality related initiatives and/or clinical research protocols through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance.
Collaborates in research projects and protocols; and routinely applies evidence based best practices to patient care
Performs other duties as assigned.
