Job summary

BAS Healthcare, Inc. seeks a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to provide emergency department coverage in Marquette, MI. This locum Tenens role involves triage, stabilization, and ED procedures for adults and children in a 19-bed ED.

You will work with 1–2 board-certified EM physicians, documenting care in the EMR and ensuring rapid clinical decisions in high-pressure situations. Credentialing takes 45–90 days, lodging nearby is available.

Qualifications

• Must have completed a PA/NP program and hold a current license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Michigan.
• State of Michigan controlled substance license required.
• Current DEA registration required.
• AHA approved BLS certification required.
• Emergency department experience with both adults and children; competence with standard ED procedures.

Responsibilities

• Triage and stabilize patients in the emergency department.
• Perform emergency procedures as required and document in the EMR.
• Handle 12–15 patient encounters per shift with 19-bed ED coverage.
• Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and support staff to deliver high-quality care.
• Cover the triage role when patient volume demands.

This well-established healthcare facility serves as a regional medical center providing comprehensive emergency medicine services to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The facility features a 19-bed emergency department with additional hall beds available as needed, supported by an extensive network of ancillary services including Radiology, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, Pharmacy, Case Management, Physical Therapy, Mental Health, Trauma Surgery, Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, Infectious Disease, OBGYN, and Anesthesiology.

Opportunity

Job Details:

• Locum Tenens opportunity with scheduled shifts from 9am-9pm with no on-call hours required
• Initial dates include December 23rd orientation, December 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th with possible future dates available
• Handle 12-15 patient encounters per shift plus handoffs in a 19-bed emergency department
• Assess and treat patients in the emergency department, performing triage, stabilization, and emergency procedures as required
• Provide rapid clinical decision-making in high-pressure situations
• Work collaboratively with nurses, specialists, and support staff to deliver high-quality patient care
• Document patient interactions and treatment plans in the hospital's EMR system
• Cover Provider in Triage role when patient volume demands
• Work as single PA/NP coverage alongside 1-2 board-certified Emergency Medicine Physicians in the department
• PA/NP works in main ER department with no dedicated fast track or express care
• Must have completed a PA/NP program and hold a current license to practice as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan
• State of Michigan controlled substance license required
• Current DEA registration required
• AHA approved BLS certification required
• Candidates must have experience as a PA/NP in an emergency department setting that includes both adults and children, as well as competence with performing standard emergency department procedures
• Credentialing timeframe is approximately 45-90 days
• Nearest airport is Sawyer International Airport with lodging available at Best Western Plus

Compensation
