Job summary

Wellpath is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide comprehensive medical care to inmates under medical leadership. The PA will evaluate and treat acute and emergency conditions, collaborate with physicians, and support administrative and psychiatric tasks.

DEA and PA licensure are required, with BLS/PALS as applicable. Join a mission-driven clinic team and contribute to high-quality care in a correctional environment.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited education program for PAs.
• Minimum two years’ experience in a correctional/detention setting.
• Unrestricted PA license and current DEA registration are required.
• BLS and PALS certifications where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver acute and emergency medical care in accordance with protocols.
• Consult with physicians and manage patient transfers when clinically indicated.
• Document all findings using SOAP and EMR systems.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts.
• Provide cross-coverage and support psychiatric stability assessments.

Responsibilities include evaluating and treating acute and emergency complaints, participating in administrative meetings, and supporting cross-coverage needs. The PA collaborates with physicians and mental health professionals, ensuring clinical documentation and treatment align with protocols. They maintain patient privacy and contribute to quality improvement activities. The role also involves emergency care coordination and psychiatric assessment support.

Key Responsibilities

• Document all findings using the S.O.A.P. method and EMR systems
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and participate in quality improvement efforts

• Minimum two (2) years’ experience

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

• Must maintain all certifications, educational requirements, licensing, etc.
• Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) registration
• Current (and must maintain) lifesaving BLS and PALS (where applicable) certification through AHA
