Physician Assistant - CV/CT Surgery - First Assist

Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Physician Assistant - First Assist - CV/CT Surgery is a licensed, certified healthcare provider who actively renders direct patient care, possesses delegated prescriptive authority, and is credentialed and privileged within the healthcare system. The service is billed as an independent billing provider, recognized by Medicare and Medicaid, in accordance with the appropriate board. The PA provides medical care based on the scope of practice defined by the supervising physician. Surgical providers care for both adult and pediatric patients, specializing in Cardio Thoracic/Vascular surgery.

Position Highlights:

• First Assist - must have vein harvesting experience
• Schedule: potential flexibility; 7am - 5pm
• Call and weekend rotations expected

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

1. Assess the physical and mental condition of patients through comprehensive or problem-focused examinations and medical histories.
2. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.
3. Prescribe, recommend, and employ medical drug therapies or other therapeutic treatments and procedures, performing indicated procedures following approved policies with attention to safety, efficacy, and cost.
4. Recommend interventions to modify health-related behavior risks.
5. Develop and implement comprehensive, outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, and professional guidelines, collaborating with physicians and team members as appropriate. Evaluate patient responses and the effectiveness of care.
