Job summary

Hartford HealthCare's Manchester Memorial Hospital seeks a critical care physician assistant to join a collaborative ICU team. You will perform rounds, assess patients, and work with intensivists to manage complex critical care cases in a high-acuity unit.

The role requires CT PA licensure, PA training, and 1+ year of critical care experience, with neurocritical care experience preferred. Competitive compensation with shift differentials and a sign-on option are offered along with comprehensive

Responsibilities

  • In consultation with the physician(s) and care team, develop plans for further evaluation and referrals to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice and refer to a physician as needed.

Position details: Manchester Memorial Hospital is seeking a critical care physician assistant to join a strong, collaborative team of critical care intensivists. The successful candidate will provide holistic, high-quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit. With your comprehensive knowledge of acute critical care conditions, diagnostics, and treatments, you will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic diseases; perform procedures; order and interpret diagnostic tests; speak to patients and families about their conditions; and collaborate with a variety of consultants.

Physician assistant role scope

In consultation with the physician(s) and care team members, physician assistants develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.

Physician assistants provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider's practice as designated by protocols, identify problems outside of their scope of practice, and refer appropriately to a physician.

Requirements
  • Licensure: Unrestricted State of Connecticut medical license (or eligible)
  • Training: Physician assistant
  • Experience: 1+ years as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting. Neurocritical care experience highly preferred
