Job summary

BAS HealthCare seeks a Physician Assistant for its inpatient Critical Care unit in Manchester, CT. This full-time role focuses on caring for critically ill patients, with collaboration from intensivists and consulting teams.

Responsibilities include diagnosing, treating, and ordering tests, plus conducting exams and planning patient care trajectories. A CT license or eligibility is required with at least 1 year of critical care experience.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1+ year of advanced practice provider experience in a critical care setting.
  • Neurocritical care experience highly preferred.
  • Must hold or be eligible for an unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License.
  • Full‑time, inpatient schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic, high‑quality care to critically ill patients in the ICU.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic diseases in critical care.
  • Perform procedures and order/interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Communicate with patients and families about conditions and care plans.
  • Collaborate with Critical Care Intensivists and consultants.
  • Conduct routine exams and develop medical/educational/psychosocial plans.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation and referrals to specialists.
  • Identify issues outside scope and refer to physicians as needed.

Job Details
  • Provide holistic, high‑quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit as a Physician Assistant
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage both acute and chronic diseases in a critical care inpatient setting
  • Perform procedures and order and interpret diagnostic tests for critically ill patients
  • Communicate with patients and families regarding their conditions and care plans
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of Critical Care Intensivists and a variety of consultants
  • Conduct routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial treatment plans
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, including referrals to specialists and other health team members
  • Identify problems outside the scope of practice and refer appropriately to physicians
  • Minimum 1+ years of advanced practice provider experience in a critical care setting required
  • Neurocritical care experience highly preferred
  • Must hold or be eligible for an unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License
  • Full‑time, inpatient schedule
