Job summary

NYC Health + Hospitals Correctional Health Services seeks a dedicated Physician Assistant to deliver comprehensive primary care to incarcerated patients at Rikers Island. The role requires NYSED licensure and current Life Support certification, with duties spanning histories/physicals, acute and chronic care, and care coordination.

Under supervision of the Site Medical Director, you will perform rounds, manage medications, submit consults, and ensure timely documentation while upholding quality

Qualifications

• Certified Physician Assistant with NYSED license or eligibility.
• Life Support certification (BLS/ACLS) required within 60 days of appointment.
• Strong primary care skills and ability to manage complex patients in a jail setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care to jail patients, including histories and physicals.
• Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses; order labs, imaging, meds; coordinate referrals.
• Maintain documentation and ensure all notes and orders are signed before shift end.
• Participate in quality improvement and collaborate with multidisciplinary team.
