About the Department

The Colon & Rectal Surgical Oncology department at MD Anderson is a high‑volume, fast‑paced clinical setting with a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration. Applicant Eligibility

Must be open to traveling to Houston Area Locations (HALs).
Shift: Monday - Friday 8-5 pm. No weekends. No on‑call. Outpatient.
Salary Range: Minimum $117,500.00 – Midpoint $146,500.00 – Maximum $176,500.00

Experience

New graduates will be considered; however, prior APP experience is preferred in a critical care environment or surgical experience.
RNFA for APRNs is a plus but not required.

Key Functions

Perform comprehensive history and physical examinations for new, consult, and follow‑up patients
Collaborate with supervising physicians and fellows to develop and implement care plans
Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and lab work
Document clinical encounters clearly via dictation or manual entry
Perform minor outpatient procedures (e.g., wound care, drain removal, suture removal)
Manage pre‑ and post‑operative care for surgical patients
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams across the institution
Participate in education, research, and administrative initiatives as needed
Other duties as assigned

Education

Required: Master’s Degree Accredited Physician Assistant (PA) program by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA), except for Physician Assistants who graduatedators from a PA program prior to 2013.

Licenses and Certifications

Required: PAC – Physician Assistant Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants. Upon Hire and

Required: MAY BE REQUIRED – Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas. Upon Hire and
