Job summary

Tenet Healthcare’s Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, CA, seeks a Physician Assistant to join the cardiovascular program. The PA will provide direct patient care under physician supervision, including taking histories, performing exams, ordering tests, and documenting in the EMR.

The role includes OR assist, vein harvesting, and pre-post operative care in an inpatient setting. CA licensure eligibility and DEA eligibility are required, with additional certifications per governing board.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited PA program.
• PA licensure; DEA eligible.
• Additional certification(s) per governing board and in accordance with the facility Medical Staff Bylaws.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care including gathering detailed history and performing physical exams under physician supervision.
• Performs or orders tests and interprets results as part of patient care.
• Assists with procedures and maintains documentation of care in EMR.
• Orders medications and coordinates with nursing and support staff.
• Adheres to Tenet policies, HIPAA standards, and corporate compliance requirements.

Join us at Central Valley Doctor's Health System in our growing Cardiovascular Program in Modesto, CA. This is a fantastic full time position inclusive of OR assist, vein harvesting and pre-post operative patient care. Due to the nature of the role, previous post-training experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of a physician, provides direct patient care including gathering detailed history and performing physical exams. Performs or orders tests and interprets results. Administers therapeutic procedures as directed. Instructs on care and maintains written charts and records on patients. Maintains appropriate manual and electronic records (EMR).

• Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources.
• Adheres to the Tenet HIPAA Compliance Plan and the Privacy Standards Confidentiality Agreement.
• Demonstrates support for the Tenet Corporate Compliance Program by being knowledgeable of compliance responsibilities as expressed in the Code of Conduct; adhering to federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and corporate policies and procedures policies that affect his/her specific job functions/responsibilities; and reporting compliance issues/concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Provide physician assistant services to patients as directed by the physician’s patient care plan and supervised by the physician
• Ensure completion of all required documentation of patient care activities in accordance with TPR policy.
• Fulfill all duties assigned by physician
• Reports to the attending physician of any injuries or adverse reactions during or after treatment
• Participates in patient review conferences and staffing
• Assists the physician as follows, but not limited to Utilization Review, Quality Assurance, Program Evaluation, Infection Control, Safety Committee activities
• Adhere to the established policies and procedures of Tenet Physician Resources Orders and interprets the results of laboratory tests as part of the physical examination and health management.
• Perform and oversee testing and other appropriate procedures.
• Conducts health teaching and counseling during the physical exam, as appropriate, enabling the client to make informed choices about health and treatment options.
• Provides consultative direction as needed for nursing, laboratory and clinic assistant staff.
• Orders medications.
• Other duties as assigned
