Posting Note:Phoenix Children’s Hospital is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team. This position will be one of five Physician Assistants providing surgical, inpatient, and outpatient coverage. In this position, you will be working alongside a close group of three cardiothoracic surgeons, one surgical fellow, four other surgical PAs, and two nurse coordinators. The primary responsibility in this role is to function as a skilled first assistant in operating room for complex congenital cardiac surgeries. Surgical experience is preferred, but we are willing to consider and train a motivated candidate with excellent work ethic. Other duties and responsibilities include performing various inpatient postoperative procedures, including but not limited to; chest tube removal, RA line removal, pacing wire removal, suture removal, wound checks, and wound vac changes. Clinical duties include participation in surgery consultations, preoperative clearance appointments, and postoperative visits. Call responsibility is only for OR case coverage and surgical bedside procedures (no primary/floor call, and no routine weekend rounding).
