Job summary

Next Level Medical in Austin, TX seeks a Physician Assistant to provide primary and episodic care to patients, independently and with the clinical team, following protocols set by the supervising physician. You will maintain patient flow, prioritize health promotion, and participate in coordination of care, including prescribing under supervision, while adhering to ethical standards.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited PA program and 1+ year of clinical experience.
  • Current state licensure as a Physician Assistant.
  • National board certification by NCCPA (or equivalent).
  • DEA license with no restrictions.
  • Clinical experience in emergency, urgent care, or ambulatory clinic settings.
  • BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Follow protocols that authorize medical care when indicated.
  • Perform complete physical exams and assessments including urgent and non-urgent cases.
  • Order and perform tests and procedures to augment findings.
  • Define and document differential diagnoses with most likely options.
  • Prescribe dosages and instruct patients on correct usage.

General Accountabilities


  • Assure patient flow runs smoothly and efficiently.

  • Follow protocols which provide medical authority when such are indicated in providing care.

  • Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation.

  • Selects, orders, and perform tests and procedures to augment physical findings.

  • Define/document differential diagnoses and list differential diagnoses with most likely diagnoses included.

  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as deemed necessary and appropriate for plan of care, in collaboration with supervising physician as indicated.

  • Interpret data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action including but not limited to laboratory, radiology, EKG, etc. in collaboration with supervising physician as indicated.

  • Performs duties in accordance with the customary rules of ethics and conduct of the applicable State Board of Medicine and other such regulating bodies.

  • Prescribes dosages and instruct patients in correct usage.

  • Maintains quality, safety, and infection control standards.

  • Exercises tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential patient issues and situations.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

  • Learns computer software programs; enters and maintains accurate data and statistical information in order to consistently prepare clear and concise reports.


Job Qualifications

Physician Assistant:



  • Master's degree from an ARC-PA accredited program for Physician Assistants with at least 1 year of clinical experience.

  • State licensure as a Physician Assistant.

  • National board certification by one of the Physician Assistant certifying bodies (i.e. NCCPA).

  • DEA license with no restrictions.

  • Clinical experience in an emergency, urgent care or ambulatory clinic setting.

  • BLS certified


Environmental And Physical Requirements


  • Candidate must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading, filing and sterile technique skills.

  • Communication skills to deal well with employees, patients, families and Physician/Medical Providers.

  • Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation. Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch.

  • Job requires physical ability for long-term standing, occasional sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and below waist.

  • Job risks include exposure to blood and body fluids (high), contact with chemicals, lifting of 30 - 40 pounds, and exposure to infectious disease.
