MaineHealth Maine Medical Center in Portland, ME, is recruiting for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our Medical Critical Care (NCC) team. This is a full-time, day/night rotating position.
The PA or ACNP will perform daily patient rounds with a team of fellows, residents, and students, develop and implement care plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, and handle procedures, admissions, discharges, and family meetings. This dynamic setting is growing and evolving. The PA or ACNP will also participate in research and quality initiatives across Medical Critical Care, Neuro Critical Care, and Surgical Critical Care. The program offers numerous learning opportunities including grand rounds, teaching rounds, journal clubs, case conferences, and morbidity and mortality reviews. A desire to be a lifelong learner, teacher, and team player is essential.
MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is Maine’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. It is a 637-bed academic medical center located in Portland, on the scenic coast of Maine.

MaineHealth APP Critical Care Residency:
This is a 12-month postgraduate training program with a formal curriculum, didactics, and simulation. It provides integration with a team of APPs, physician fellows, residents, and students to enhance critical care knowledge and skills for adult critically ill patients across surgical, medical, neuro, and cardiovascular services. The program offers protected learning time, regular assessments, and mentorship. Cohorts start biannually in April and October, each enrolling two APP residents, fostering peer support and leadership. More information can be found on our website:
