Job description

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center Portland, ME, is recruiting for a Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP) to join our Critical Care team. This is a Per Diem position.

The PA or ACNP will perform daily rounds on patients with a team of fellows, residents, and students, as well as develop and implement care plans, order and interpret diagnostic studies, procedures, admissions, discharges, and family meetings. This is a dynamic setting that is growing and evolving. The PA or ACNP will participate in research and quality initiatives for Medical Critical Care, Neuro Critical Care, and/or Surgical Critical Care patients. The program offers multiple learning opportunities including critical care grand rounds, teaching rounds, journal clubs, case conferences, and morbidity and mortality meetings. A desire to be a lifelong learner, teacher, and part of an interdisciplinary care team is required.

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is Maine’s only Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center. It is a 637-bed academic medical center located in Portland on the breathtaking coast of Maine.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's and Master’s Degree required; successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program; postgraduate training in critical care or related specialty OR equivalent experience; current license issued by the State of Maine or eligibility for licensure; current BLS certification.
