Job summary

University Health Services at UW–Madison is hiring an experienced Physician Assistant for a primary care-focused role serving UW–Madison students in a collaborative, team-based setting. This 0.8 FTE position supports our mission to promote, protect, and improve student health and well-being.

The starting salary is $95,824.00 and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Generous vacation, holidays, sick leave, competitive insurance and retirement benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a physician assistant.
  • Current NCCPA certification.
  • Current Wisconsin Physician Assistant license or eligibility to obtain before start date.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Provide care in a primary care-focused setting.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate care plans based on medical assessments.
  • Educate patients and support systems on health management.
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat illnesses and manage chronic conditions.

This 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) position supports our mission to promote, protect, and improve student health and well-being.

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
  • Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates health care services as directed by individual care plans
  • Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations
  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems

UHS Medical Services provides high quality medical services to UW-Madison students with specialties in primary care, gynecology, sexual health, travel medicine, allergy and immunization, and physical therapy. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventative care in support of the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services.

Compensation:

The starting salary is $95,824.00 and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a physician assistant
  • Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care settings
  • Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • Current Wisconsin Physician Assistant license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with college students or young adults, with sensitivity to a diverse student population
  • Experience evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries
  • Experience performing in-office procedures, (e.g., cryotherapy, incision and drainage, ingrown toenail removal, laceration repair) or willingness to learn
  • Experience providing gender-affirming care
Education:

Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred
